By using this website or applying for membership, you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy and Code of Conduct. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to apply for membership or to submit information through this site.

Membership

Membership in the American Medaka Association is free and granted at the discretion of our volunteer board. We operate on an honor system rooted in trust, accountability, and ethical sourcing — including our commitment that AMA is not a sales group and does not facilitate egg sales. Membership may be declined, suspended, or revoked if a member violates our core mission, these terms, or our Code of Conduct.

Member directory and accuracy

Approved members may appear in our public directory. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, and you agree not to misrepresent your identity, your strains, or the lineage or source of your medaka. You control whether your profile is listed and may use a nickname in place of your legal name.

Acceptable use

• Do not use the site for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these terms.
• Do not attempt to disrupt, overload, scrape, or gain unauthorized access to the site or its data.
• Do not impersonate others or misuse the contact and membership forms.
• Do not use the member directory to harvest contact information or to send unsolicited commercial messages.

Your content

You retain ownership of the information you submit. By submitting it, you grant AMA a non-exclusive license to use and display that information as needed to operate the association and, where you have consented, the public directory. You are responsible for the content you provide.

Intellectual property

The AMA name, logo, and site content are the property of the American Medaka Association or its contributors and may not be used without permission, except as reasonably necessary to reference the association.

Educational content — not professional advice

Care, breeding, and husbandry information on this site is provided for general education only and is not professional or veterinary advice. You are responsible for the care of your animals and for complying with applicable laws.

No warranties

The site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the American Medaka Association and its volunteers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or participation in the community.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the site or membership at our discretion, including for violations of these terms or our Code of Conduct.

Changes to these terms
